A NATION DIVIDED AGAINST ITSELF

Mercy me, sakes alive, and carrot coffee! Abraham Lincoln made his famous speech on the subject on June 16, 1858, and a late Rasmussen national poll shows us with 34.7% Democrats and 34.4% Republicans! Lincoln’s speech was made as a prelude to the civil war. So our nation’s only civil war got that settled, or did it? Some, perhaps rightfully so, consider it not settled yet! Senator McConnell a Republican leader, frequently says that his main objective now is to see that our first black president is defeated in 2012 in his race for a second term. Of course, he will say that no racism is involved, but his saying it doesn’t make it so!
Our nation indeed is so divided against itself that it cannot agree on how to continue to pay its bills! Have we gone broke? I don’t think so! Reliable reports have it that our total wealth is about $l00 trillion, and we owe $14.3 trillion.
Who owns most of the nation’s wealth? Reports on the Internet and elsewhere show that 90% is owned by the top 10%, and 23% is owned by the top 1%! Broke my elbow! There is plenty of money out there to cover all our obligations with ease, if we just had the good judgment and the guts to do it!
Why don’t we do it! Because these wealthy folks and corporations are able to buy off enough politicians to prevent it! And they own most of the media outlets now, so I may not be able to get this published!
A nation divided against itself
cannot stand! Shall we just say goodbye to the America we love?
God forbid!
